Lena Dunham is reportedly saying she did her best to inform Hillary Clinton’s campaign about the actions of Harvey Weinstein as far back as March of 2016.
According to the New York Post’s Page Six, the former “Girls” actress tells the New York Times that she was uncomfortable with Weinstein’s involvement during the 2016 political campaign, and tried to flag the issue to Clinton’s campaign deputy communications manager.
Dunham reportedly tells the New York Times that she said, “I just want to let you know that Harvey’s a rapist and this is going to come out at some point… I think it’s a really bad idea for him to host fund-raisers and be involved because it’s an open secret in Hollywood that he has a problem with sexual assault.”
Clinton accepted thousands of dollars of donations from Weinstein, and Page Six reports it took five days for the former Presidential nominee to publicly condemn Weinstein and say she was “shocked and appalled” after accusations surfaced.
We guess Clinton never got Dunham’s warning.
