It appears Gus Malzahn is off the hot seat.
Auburn athletic director Allen Greene told reporters Tuesday that Malzahn will return as Tigers head coach next year and is "our coach of the future," according to Tom Green of AL.com.
After a successful 2017 season, Auburn has struggled to a 6-3 overall record (3-3 in SEC play) this year with No. 6 Georgia and No. 1 Alabama still waiting on the Tigers' schedule.
Malzahn signed a seven-year, $49-million contract in December after winning the SEC West and earning a berth in the conference championship game.
The 53-year-old owns a 51–25 overall record since joining the Tigers in 2013.
